There will come a time when the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid; the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Now is not that time.

Imagine for a moment a period in time where all the people on earth must bow to the authority of an evil dictatorial world leader where nation states no longer exist. A world not unlike the world Aldous Huxley wrote about in his book Brave New World. Or a world that George Orwell wrote about in his book 1984.

In 1958 Huxley said the world he saw coming in the future was a world where technology no longer served mankind, but rather a world where technology was mankind’s master. Orwell wrote about a world where Newspeak was the language of the people. Newspeak is a controlled, simplified version of English. It removes “subversive” concepts from the language that the Party wants its citizens to avoid. These include expressions of personal identity, free will, or anything resembling a rebellion. It focuses on the ideology of INGSOC and the belief that the Party is all-knowing.

Now give some thought to the world we live in today - a world where our cell phones do in fact seem to control our lives. A world where the common usage of words has changed to the point where the words man and woman no longer mean what they have always meant. In our new world a man can claim to be a woman, and a woman can claim to be a man, and medical technology can pretend to change a person into whatever gender he or she chooses.

Now, think of a world we read about in the bible. A world where one man rules. A world where only one religion exists. A world where our ability to buy or sell is dependent on giving up our free will and pledging allegiance to this one world system. If we refuse to do so we are beheaded.

How far have we come toward the world Huxley wrote about, Orwell wrote about, and of course God Himself wrote about? Given that so many in our world today are on board with these things I would have to say we are almost there right now. Granted there are a lot of us who resist all these things, but we are today in the minority. Even those of us who find our dependence on technology repugnant still employ the technology. Our smartphones are no longer something we can live without after all. Our system of authority - for instance our educators, our politicians, our judges, and even our medical professionals are fully bought into the idea that you should be free to choose your own gender. These systems have taken over to the point where parental control over their children is now relegated to these authoritarian entities.

As a practical matter most of us still understand that a man cannot become a woman, but those of us who do understand, and do speak out on the matter are quickly silenced and in some cases being punished for resisting the approved narrative of this new State.

Suffice it to say we are living in those times these 3 authors speak about. They have - all three of them - correctly prophesied the future of man. But how does it all end? Only one of these authors can answer that question and that is God Himself. The title to this post answers the question. We read about it in Isaiah:

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. Isaiah 11: 6

What does that verse from the bible tells us? One thing it tells us is that we will no longer see natural adversaries exist. The wolf and the lamb co-existing. The lion and the calf co-existing. Can you picture a wolf, a lamb, a calf, a lion, a leopard and a young goat all walking together peacefully behind an innocent little child?

That world we read about in Isaiah is obviously not a world where danger lurks around every corner. That’s the world we live in today, but it is not the world God intends for us to live in forever.

I cannot know the mind of God. I can’t explain to you why God allows the things He allows. Why for instance does He allow Satan to rule the world we live in? He does rule this world by the way. Consider for instance the time when Jesus spent 40 days in the desert being tempted by Satan. We read these words in Matthew 4:

Finally, the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain. He showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. ⁹ “If you bow down and worship me,” he said, “I will give you all this.”

Satan had the power to do just that, and Jesus knew that to be true. Jesus also knew that Satan would not reign forever on earth and the time would come when Jesus would rule the whole world, but that was not the time.

There is hope - the hope we read about in the bible, a time of peace and prosperity, a time where love for all things will prevail, a time God imagined from the beginning of mankind, a love that will erase evil from the world, a time where truth overcomes lies, and a time where God’s glory shines brightly all the time. There will be no darkness at all. We read about that time in Revelation:

There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22: 5.

We know from the bible that this time will come, but we also know from the bible that the world Huxley envisioned, the world Orwell envisioned, will come first. God will allow it, and for a purpose. The purpose - to separate the saints from the lost. Not all will see this time Isaiah speaks of. John the Baptist spoke of this time - a time for separating the wheat from the chaff:

“I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.”

Those who are baptized with the Holy Spirit will see it. The rest will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Jesus told us that only a few enter through the narrow gate to eternal life. The rest will go through the wide gate to destruction.

I think I’ll close by suggesting you listen to Mike Wallace’s interview of Aldous Huxley. The interview was in 1958 - 67 years ago - and yet Huxley’s words resonated with me as being very prescient. There can be no question Huxley was a visionary, and I would suggest that those who are among God’s elect will agree with me. We read a lot in the bible after all about a sort of veil over the minds of those who will not be saved - not experience that world Isaiah speaks of. Perhaps Huxley was one of those people. Huxley had a spiritual perspective and studied and wrote about various religions, but I’m not so sure he accepted Christianity as the only true religion. On the other hand, one can tell when listening to Huxley that he possessed many of the traits a true Christian possesses. I do know after listening to that interview that I would like to have known him, to have conversed with him. I would probably point out to him that the God of the Judeo-Christian bible speaks of the same world he envisioned.
